Boom!

Though there are still debates, beliefs and non-beliefs about 'love at first sight', movie industry had strongly held on it for decades. Then there was a time when directors were bitten by 'vidhyasamana kaadhals' for a while.

Anyway, in recent times, there seems to be a new trend: 'love at the last minute'!! It was in 'Azhagiya Theeye' that I first noticed it with the hero expecting the heroine to fall in love with him suddenly one fine day, 'boom'! As it always happens in movies, the heroine does go 'boom' at the climax. Then, the same happened in 'Gilli' though for a change, it is the hero who goes 'boom' at the last minute. Then again in 'Ullam Ketkume', the hero goes 'boom' in the climax with the heroine happily smiling inspite of missing her flight(Wonder what would have been the female's 'nelamai' if after missing her flight, Shyam shows no change of heart!).

hahaha.. All the recent movies in which the climax ended in a Railway station/Airport had the last minute booms.. Sachein, Kushi, Enakku 20 Unakku 18 , JJ and even Idhayam were all like that... So monotonous they are turning out to be.. The advantage with such a movie is that there need not be any villain.. and climax ends without any gory fight which usually happens in love-at-first-sight or love-after-enemity movies.

hopped in from Kris' blog... ur friday melody picks are good :-)... and for the "boom" -- as raju said, there are now so many movies... april madathil was another one along similar lines, hey nee rembo azhaga irruke was another... they just have 3 hrs and someohow have to unite the actor and actress... so the "boom" happens at start or at the end :-)

IMO, love at first sight is a myth....

Kris, "Roja kootam" too, huh?

Raju, unlike Kushi, Sachein etc. the movies I've mentioned deals with a different main theme with 'boom' being the last priority.

Naikutti, welcome and thanks. I haven't watched 'April maadhathil' or 'hey nee...'. In the movies I've mentioned, one of the party is simply unaware of the other person's feelings till almost the end and hence the 'avasaramana subam boom'.

Sai thilak, Che! such a simple solution! Ennakku thonama poche!!

Bala(karthik), welcome and thanks.
