Drive me crazy!

Got this email forward sometime back.

Driving Styles ...

One hand on steering wheel, one hand out of window. - Sydney

One hand on steering wheel, one hand on horn- Japan

One hand on steering wheel, one hand on newspaper, foot solidly on accelerator... - Boston

Both hands on steering wheel, eyes shut, both feet on brake, quivering in terror- New York

Both hands in air, gesturing, both feet on accelerator, head turned to talk to someone in back seat- Italy

One hand on horn, one hand on holding gear, one ear listening to loud music, one ear on cell phone, one foot on accelerator, one foot on clutch, nothing on break, eyes on females in next car, *** - Welcome to INDIA!

P.S. - If foreigners(and NRIs) are scared of our indisciplined traffic in India, so was I with the disciplined traffic here!! It was such a rude shock to me that I who used to (free style!) ride a 2 wheeler on Chennai roads had to go 'Gajini Mohammad' style to the RMV to get my license!!

It is one hell of a driving exp in India, illey? Andha bhagyadhai innum enakku kidaikkalai..

And I was lucky to pass my driving tests on the first attempt itself.. :-)

One of my friends recently said he thought 'right of way' to be the 'right side of the way' and sariyana cuppu vangittan.. :-)

peedhi ya kalapiduthhu.. this time when i drove in india.

1. there are lanes.
2. cars go on the lane.
3. cars also go either side of the lane.
4. bikes follow the car EXACTLY on top of the lane
5. An auto comes IN BETWEEN the bike and the car.

Getting license was not that bad. Went thru driving school for car.

Am truly surprised to hear this from a Bostonian, I was told and even saw it on TV (in a program about the 'Big Dig') that traffic is pretty haywire in Boston. Atlanta and I-95 stretch from Baltimore all the way up North are pretty bad. But namma ooru has a totally different problem, you have all kinds of vehicles of all kind of speeds on the same road, here its either a 4 wheeler or a 18 wheeler(not in all roads) and occasionally the two-wheeler.

It would be even more ruder shock to see someone whose driven here quite a while to drive in Chennai traffic (leave alone Mount Road), it would be hilarious to see that :)))
