Ajamila

Recently, I read an old issue of 'Anandha Vikatan' where there was an article by Gnani about Lal Bahadur Shastri and the simple life he lived even after he became the Prime Minister of India. Today's polititians might laugh at him saying 'pozhaikka theriyadhavaru pa!'
This reminded me of the story of Ajamila - 'a fallen brahman who was saved from hell by unintentionally chanting the Lord's name at the time of death'. Guess, today's man-kind have learnt that like 'Ajamila', they can engage in wrong-doings all their life and at the end cry out to someone to save them or perform 'parikaram'.

I absolutely disagree with the outcome of that story!. Maybe if the brevity of the sin was "lesser", I can atleast understand the logic. But this?. Anything can be forgiven??. It is almost like catholicism.

As far as I am concerned, you break it, you take it..

I have always felt that this kind of stories and sub-stories backfire most of the times. It is too self-contradictory. Be good, stay good, do good. Thats all.

Well said.. but many of the wrong-doers do pooja in their home daily or atleast once a week.. They hold posts as 'Dharmakartha' and put large sums of money in Thirupathi hundi as donation.. Kadavulaiyum fraud partner-akkiyiruppaanga.. :-(

its much deeper than you think.

I had a dirty floor in my old house. I was talking to my cousin about replacing that with tile floors. He said, no matter what da.. you will replace them with tiles.. one tile will break and still look dirty.

You cant do the parikaram/pooja if your fate is against.

Deepak, neenga nallavar. Adhaan paarunga, unga car munnale oru thatha/paatti car vittu andavan sodhikkaraan!!

Vijay, hmmm? ok!

Keerthi, yes, it is deeper and that is my problem. We are digging deeper and deeper to find water and by the time I reach it, half are dead already!
And by the time the first tile breaks, you have had the time to show off/rent it and profit!
