Hard work Vs Smart work

Long time back, I heard from a colleague about how her boss told her to be a smart worker and not a hard worker! Since then I have wondered about it a lot. All my life I have heard people telling me to work hard to be successful. So, putting in extra effort to achieve something seems so natural. But if after all that effort, someone grabs the trophy because of his/her being smart(reminds me of the mythological story where Pillayar and Murugan compete for the 'nyana pazham'), is it even right to be angry?

Nice post. Came here through your response to one of my posts.

Nope! Anger is not the way to go. Smartness is a must. Plain hard work does not help! But, plain smartness also does not work in the long run, it may give results in the short term tho'. I guess a good mix of both, like anything else in life!
